Saleh Pat (Reporter: Mir Usama Shanbani): A protest demonstration and sit-in was held outside the Taluka Press Club Saleh Pat by the Citizens Alliance and Hindu Panchayat leaders against the increasing incidents of lawlessness in the area.
The protest was led by Akshay Kumar, Sail Kumar, Kailash Kumar, Saeed Mangi, Sanwal Mal, Ghansham Kumar, Deepak Kumar, and others.
The protesters claimed that incidents of theft and insecurity had increased in Saleh Pat. They stated that a shop had been robbed twice within a week. According to the protesters, unidentified thieves broke into the grocery store of Diwan Akshay Kumar by breaking its roof and stole goods worth millions of rupees along with cash.
They said the same shop had also been targeted a week earlier, when thieves allegedly entered through the roof and took away valuable items. They further claimed that thieves had also broken into Saeed Mangi’s shop and stolen goods and cash worth millions of rupees.
The protesters said they had repeatedly raised their complaints with Saleh Pat Police Station SHO Zulfiqar Chachar, but alleged that only assurances were being given and no recovery of stolen property had been made.
They expressed concern that citizens did not feel safe day or night and said business activities were also being affected due to insecurity.
The protesters demanded that elected representatives of the area and SSP Sukkur provide protection to citizens and ensure the recovery of stolen goods. They warned that if the stolen items were not recovered within 24 hours, they would be forced to announce a shutter-down strike in the city.
