Karachi: Popular Pakistani television host Nida Yasir has expressed criticism over the practice of married men in Pakistan continuing to rely financially on their parents.
In a widely circulated social media clip, Nida Yasir said that parents should focus on making their children independent and should consider marriage only when their children are capable of earning and managing responsibilities.
She said that in many Western countries, children begin working at a young age and often take responsibility for their education, rent, and personal expenses after reaching adulthood.
Nida Yasir said that the situation in Pakistan is different, where parents often continue supporting their children financially for as long as they can. She described it as an unhealthy trend, saying that in some cases young children are burdened with family responsibilities, while in other cases adults continue depending on their parents’ income.
She emphasized that the trend needs to gradually change and that children should be encouraged to become self-reliant so they can build a better future.
The host added that parents’ responsibilities are not limited to providing education or covering expenses; they should also guide their children in the right direction and help them become capable of facing life independently.
