Karachi: Prominent religious scholar Mufti Muneeb-ur-Rehman has called on those in power to focus on resolving Pakistan’s internal challenges after addressing international issues.
Addressing a ceremony in Karachi, Mufti Muneeb-ur-Rehman said that a justice system that fails to provide justice for 40 years becomes a system of oppression.
He remarked that the country’s leadership had taken positions on global issues and should now also pay attention to solving the problems faced by Pakistan itself.
The religious scholar urged the government to address the issue of Independent Power Producers (IPPs), saying that the country’s economic situation was such that after allocating shares to provinces and making interest payments, very little remained available.
Meanwhile, Maulana Bashir Farooqui said that the government was not serious about ending the interest-based financial system. He added that his organization was prepared to train the employees of traditional banks if needed as part of efforts toward financial reform.
