Quetta: The Balochistan government has decided to conduct an investigation into the coal mine accident in Sorange, a suburban area of Quetta, through three different mechanisms.
According to officials, the inquiry will include a Court of Inquiry, a departmental investigation, and an investigation by the Chief Minister’s Inspection Team. The reports from all three investigations are expected to be submitted within a period ranging from 15 days to one month.
The decision comes after a deadly gas explosion inside the coal mine claimed 34 lives, resulting in one of the region’s most tragic mining incidents.
Rescue operations following the explosion have already been completed, with authorities recovering the bodies of all the affected miners.
Mining experts, however, have emphasized that investigation reports alone will not be sufficient. They called for strict action against those responsible and urged authorities to implement effective safety measures to protect mine workers and prevent similar tragedies in the future.
They stressed that improved monitoring, enforcement of safety regulations, and better working conditions are essential to ensuring the lives and security of coal miners in Balochistan.
