Lahore: The Punjab government has imposed a ban on the entry of motorcycles and rickshaws on two more major roads in Lahore as part of new traffic and environmental measures.
According to the details, motorcycles and rickshaws will no longer be allowed on Canal Road and Ferozepur Road. A similar restriction was already in place on Mall Road, Jail Road, and Main Boulevard.
The provincial government has also made the use of masks mandatory for people traveling on motorcycles and issued official instructions in this regard.
It is also reported that the Punjab government has decided to stop the production of petrol-powered motorcycles and rickshaws. The manufacturing of petrol motorcycles will be phased out gradually as part of the shift toward cleaner transportation.
Furthermore, all government departments in Punjab have been directed that future vehicle purchases must include only electric, hybrid vehicles, and electric motorcycles.
The measures are aimed at reducing environmental pollution, improving traffic management, and promoting sustainable transport solutions across the province.
