KARACHI: YouTuber Rajab Butt was reportedly assaulted by a group of lawyers when he appeared in City Court for a bail hearing related to a blasphemy case.

Rajab Butt had arrived at the court along with his legal team to attend the hearing for his interim bail. Upon reaching the court premises, several lawyers, along with other individuals dressed in lawyers’ attire, allegedly attacked him.

According to lawyer representatives, the incident occurred after Rajab Butt, following the grant of interim bail, recorded a vlog in which he reportedly used inappropriate language regarding the plaintiff of the case.

Due to an ongoing lawyers’ strike, the court postponed the hearing of Rajab Butt’s bail application until January 13. His interim bail was also extended until the same date.

The incident has raised concerns over courtroom security and the conduct of legal professionals, highlighting the tensions surrounding high-profile cases involving social media figures in Pakistan.
