ISLAMABAD: Sindh Senior Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon has alleged that the rigging witnessed during Pakistan’s 2024 general elections was repeated in the recently held elections in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK).
Speaking to the media in Islamabad, Memon claimed that the ruling party’s alleged manipulation in AJK was an extension of what he described as the “Form 47 government,” accusing the federal and Punjab governments of joining forces to defeat the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP).
He said the events of February 8, 2024, had been repeated in AJK, adding that the latest exercise was “even worse” than the previous one. He further alleged that the government had come to power through what he termed a “charity mandate.”
Memon criticized a recent press conference by federal ministers, saying they showed no remorse and instead displayed arrogance. He claimed that people were aware of how the elections had been conducted.
The PPP leader also alleged that irregularities were observed during polling in the Mirpur Division, adding that complaints had been submitted to the Election Commission but no action was taken.
He said the PPP would continue to challenge the election results through constitutional and legal forums, emphasizing that the party would present its case with arguments rather than abusive language.
