Khairpur: SSP Khairpur Dr. Samiullah Soomro has said that Khairpur Police have carried out a successful operation against criminals in the Katcha area, resulting in the killing of a notorious outlaw during a police encounter with the help of drones.
According to SSP Dr. Samiullah Soomro, the operation was conducted in the riverine (Katcha) belt of Khairpur, where police targeted criminal elements involved in serious crimes. During the encounter, a well-known and wanted criminal, Javed alias Shahban, son of Muhammad Musa Narejo, was killed in a shootout with police. Weapons and ammunition were recovered from the possession of the deceased criminal.
The SSP stated that Javed alias Shahban Narejo was a highly wanted and infamous criminal with a long criminal record. Multiple cases of robbery, dacoity, and theft were registered against him at various police stations, including Pir Jo Goth Police Station, ARU, Piryalo Police Station, Bradi Jatoi Police Station, Agra and other areas. Police records confirm his involvement in numerous serious crimes over an extended period.
SSP Khairpur further revealed that just two days prior to the encounter, the deceased criminal, along with his gang, had stopped a passenger coach on the Larkana–Khairpur Road and carried out a robbery, looting passengers at gunpoint. This incident had caused fear and unrest among the public and further highlighted the threat posed by the gang.
Dr. Samiullah Soomro made it clear that the police would not show any leniency to criminals, regardless of how influential or powerful they may be. “No matter how strong or influential a criminal is, he will not be spared,” he said. He added that the ultimate fate of criminals is either prison or death due to their actions.
The SSP emphasized that the ongoing operation in the Katcha area is yielding positive results, and more successes are expected in the coming days. He warned that elements responsible for disturbing law and order, along with their facilitators and supporters, would face strict and exemplary action.
He reaffirmed the resolve of Khairpur Police to restore peace in the region and eliminate criminal networks operating in riverine areas. “We are fully committed to maintaining law and order. Those who try to spread fear and chaos will meet a humiliating end,” SSP Dr. Samiullah Soomro stated.
Local residents have welcomed the police action, expressing hope that sustained operations will bring lasting peace and security to the Katcha areas, which have long been affected by criminal activities.
