The Sindh government is set to introduce facial recognition-based digital attendance for school teachers and non-teaching staff in six districts from August 17 as part of its campaign against ghost employees.
The system will be implemented from August 17 in Karachi East, Hyderabad, Umerkot, Naushahro Feroze, Jacobabad and Ghotki.
Attendance of both teaching and non-teaching staff will be recorded through the digital system.
Officials said employees found absent from duty would face disciplinary action in phases.
An absent employee would first be served a show-cause notice, while those continuing to remain absent would receive up to three show-cause notices.
An employee who fails to provide a satisfactory explanation even after the final notice would be declared a ghost employee and dismissed from service, officials said.
