MUZAFFARABAD: The Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) has formally submitted complaints to the Chief Election Commissioner of Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK), alleging electoral irregularities during the second phase of the AJK general elections and calling for immediate action.
According to the complaint, Sardar Abdul Shakoor, In-charge of the PPP Election Cell in AJK, urged the Chief Election Commissioner to investigate two alleged violations that the party claims have affected the transparency of the electoral process.
One of the key allegations concerns Polling Station No. 24 in Constituency LA-32, where the PPP claimed that workers of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) were allegedly stamping ballot papers.
The complaint states that such actions, if confirmed, would seriously undermine the fairness and transparency of the election and constitute a violation of the Election Code of Conduct as well as regulations governing the conduct of public officials during polling.
The PPP has requested the Election Commission to take immediate notice of the allegations, conduct a thorough investigation, and ensure strict enforcement of election laws to maintain the credibility of the voting process.
Party officials argued that free, fair, and transparent elections are essential to preserving public confidence in democratic institutions and ensuring that the will of the electorate is accurately reflected in the final results.
The allegations come amid heightened political tensions during the second phase of the AJK elections, with opposition parties raising concerns over polling arrangements in several constituencies.
At the time of reporting, neither the PML-N nor the AJK Election Commission had issued an official response to the PPP’s allegations. The claims remain allegations and have not been independently verified by election authorities.
Election observers and political stakeholders continue to monitor the polling process closely as voting proceeds across the constituencies. Authorities are expected to review the complaints in accordance with the applicable electoral laws and procedures before taking any further action.
