MATIARI (Staff Reporter): A couple from Sukkur who recently entered into a love marriage has appealed to the Sindh Police for protection, alleging threats and harassment from the bride’s family.
The couple, Mohan, son of Tirath Das Bagri, and Mohini, daughter of Mitho Bheel, addressed a press conference at the City Press Club Matiari, stating that they solemnized their marriage of their own free will in the Sessions Court, Matiari, about a week ago.
Speaking to the media, Mohan said that after their marriage, Mohini’s brothers—identified as Manthar Bheel, Sadhi Bheel, and Laliyo Bheel—became hostile towards them. He alleged that they, along with several associates, attacked his family’s house in Sukkur, assaulted his relatives, removed household belongings, and issued threats demanding that Mohini be handed over.
Mohini told reporters that she had married Mohan willingly and denied allegations of abduction or coercion.
“I married Mohan of my own free will. No one abducted me or forced me into this marriage,” she said.
She further alleged that her brothers were threatening her husband’s family and warned of serious consequences if the couple was not separated.
The couple appealed to the Sindh Police and other relevant authorities to provide them with protection and ensure the safety of both families.
The allegations made by the couple have not been independently verified, and no response from the individuals named or from the police was immediately available. Authorities have yet to comment publicly on the matter.
