NAUSHAHRO FEROZE: Commissioner of Shaheed Benazirabad Division, Shahmir Khan Bhutto, visited the SM Protective Embankment in the Kori Jo Bhan area of Naushahro Feroze to review flood preparedness in view of the anticipated rise in the Indus River and the ongoing monsoon season.

The visit was accompanied by Deputy Commissioner Naushahro Feroze Muhammad Arsalan Saleem, administrative officials, Superintending Engineer of the Irrigation Department Ata Muhammad Chhajro, Executive Engineer (Rohri Division Moro) Faisal Rajpar, and other relevant officers.

During the inspection, the commissioner closely examined the embankment’s vulnerable points and directed Irrigation Department officials to complete all necessary strengthening work on an emergency basis to enhance flood protection.

He instructed the concerned authorities to keep stone supplies, heavy machinery, and emergency personnel on standby and ensure round-the-clock preparedness to respond to any emergency situation.

Commissioner Shahmir Khan Bhutto also emphasized the need for continuous monitoring of the Indus River’s water level and flow, directing irrigation officials to take immediate action in the event of any potential threat or breach.

He said the divisional administration was utilizing all available resources to safeguard villages and communities located near the embankment and stressed that no negligence or complacency would be tolerated in implementing flood protection measures.

During the visit, engineers briefed the commissioner on the current condition of the embankment, water levels, and the precautionary measures already taken.

Chief Engineer, Sukkur Barrage Left Bank Region, Mujtaba Dhamra, also informed the commissioner about the flood management arrangements and preparedness plans implemented by the Irrigation Department to address any potential emergency.
