In a significant diplomatic engagement aimed at reinforcing strategic cooperation, Pakistan’s Field Marshal Asim Munir met with Türkiye’s Minister of Energy, Alparslan Bayraktar, at the General Headquarters (GHQ) in Rawalpindi. The meeting, according to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), focused on expanding bilateral collaboration, particularly in the energy sector, and further strengthening long-standing ties between the two brotherly nations.
During the talks, both sides discussed matters of mutual interest, ongoing regional developments, and future opportunities for cooperation. The central theme of the meeting was energy-related collaboration, an area in which both countries have recently shown increased interest. Türkiye, with its advanced technological capabilities and expanding global footprint in energy infrastructure, and Pakistan, with its growing need for sustainable and affordable energy solutions, see mutual benefit in expanding their partnership.
The Turkish Minister expressed strong willingness to deepen cooperation in multiple areas of the energy sector. This includes potential partnerships in renewable energy, electricity infrastructure development, oil and gas exploration, and technological exchange. He also highlighted Türkiye’s ambition to support Pakistan in building long-term, stable, and efficient energy frameworks that could help reduce the country’s chronic energy shortfalls. The minister reiterated Türkiye’s readiness to share its expertise and extend practical support in projects aligned with Pakistan’s future energy roadmap.
Field Marshal Asim Munir appreciated Türkiye’s consistent diplomatic backing for Pakistan on international platforms. He acknowledged Türkiye’s principled stance on global issues concerning Pakistan, including its vocal support in advocacy matters and shared positions in multilateral forums. He also emphasized that the Pakistan–Türkiye relationship is rooted in centuries-old cultural, religious, and historical affinity, further solidified by mutual trust, defense cooperation, and humanitarian support extended during periods of crisis.
The meeting further underscored the depth of the strategic partnership, as both sides agreed that energy collaboration should be part of a broader framework of economic, defense, and regional cooperation. Discussions also touched upon the importance of maintaining regional peace, stability, and sustainable development—areas where Türkiye praised Pakistan’s constructive role.
Türkiye’s Minister commended Pakistan’s ongoing efforts to ensure regional peace and stability and recognized Pakistan’s initiatives aimed at promoting sustainable development. He noted that stronger bilateral collaboration in energy and other sectors would open new avenues for economic growth and mutually beneficial projects, strengthening the relationship between the two nations.
The engagement reflects both countries’ shared commitment to enhancing cooperation in sectors crucial for economic progress. It also comes at a time when Pakistan is seeking reliable international partnerships to overcome economic and energy challenges, making Türkiye an important collaborator in this journey.
