SUKKUR: The Irrigation Department has declared a medium-level flood at Guddu Barrage following a continued rise in water flows in the Indus River, while a low-level flood remains in effect at Sukkur Barrage.
According to the latest figures released by the department, Guddu Barrage recorded an inflow of 412,682 cusecs and an outflow of 373,467 cusecs, prompting authorities to officially declare a medium flood at the barrage.
At Sukkur Barrage, the inflow was recorded at 290,060 cusecs, while the outflow stood at 233,230 cusecs. Officials said the barrage continues to experience a low-level flood and that the situation is being closely monitored.
Meanwhile, Kotri Barrage recorded an inflow of 51,965 cusecs and an outflow of 8,260 cusecs, according to the Irrigation Department.
The department said it is continuously monitoring changes in the Indus River’s water flow to ensure timely action in the event of any emergency.
Authorities have advised residents living along the riverbanks, in low-lying areas and riverine (katcha) regions to remain vigilant, avoid unnecessary visits near the river, follow the instructions of the local administration and immediately contact the relevant authorities if any emergency situation arises.
