Sukkur: Residents of Labour Colony in Sukkur have raised serious concerns over deteriorating civic conditions, alleging that the area is facing severe sanitation and drainage problems that have made daily life increasingly difficult.
According to local residents, heaps of garbage have accumulated at various locations across the neighbourhood, creating foul odours and an unhealthy environment. They said the area’s drainage system has virtually collapsed, leaving stagnant sewage and rainwater standing in streets and lanes.
The residents warned that the unsanitary conditions have increased the risk of the spread of diseases, particularly during the current weather conditions.
They further claimed that despite submitting repeated complaints to the relevant authorities, no effective measures have been taken to resolve the issues.
Residents also expressed concerns over security, stating that the locality has witnessed incidents of crime, including murders, in the past, leaving many families feeling unsafe.
They said the municipal cleaning system was inadequate and that the persistent accumulation of waste and foul smell had made living conditions unbearable.
The residents appealed to the provincial government and local authorities to take immediate notice of the situation, improve sanitation services, remove garbage, restore the drainage system, and address the area’s civic problems to provide relief to the community.
