Muzaffarabad: Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari launched a sharp attack on the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), accusing it of relying on electoral rigging to gain power and vowing to resist any attempt to manipulate the upcoming Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) elections.
Addressing a PPP workers’ convention in Muzaffarabad, Bilawal expressed confidence in his party’s prospects, saying the size of the gathering indicated that the “Arrow” election symbol would secure victory in the upcoming polls.
He said the PPP had consistently highlighted the Kashmir issue at the international level for three generations and reaffirmed the party’s commitment to the people of Azad Kashmir.
Without naming the PML-N directly, Bilawal alleged that his political opponents had historically come to power through election rigging.
“These people are the product of rigging from one generation to the next. They have always come to power through manipulated elections,” he said.
Bilawal further alleged that his opponents believed they could also secure power in Azad Kashmir through electoral manipulation but declared that the PPP would not allow any rigging in the territory’s elections.
Addressing supporters, he also pledged to recover what he described as the party’s “stolen seats,” saying he would stand by the people of Azad Kashmir in protecting their democratic mandate.
The remarks come amid an increasingly heated political campaign ahead of the Azad Kashmir elections, with major parties trading allegations over governance, electoral transparency, and campaign conduct.
The allegations made by Bilawal Bhutto Zardari regarding election rigging were presented during a political speech. No evidence was provided in the address to substantiate the claims, and the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz had not issued an immediate response to the remarks at the time of reporting.
