Sukkur: Deputy Chief Warden of Civil Defence Sukkur, Dr Saeed Awan, met Assistant Commissioner (City) Sarah Faraz at her office to discuss public safety, fire prevention, disaster preparedness and future joint initiatives aimed at strengthening emergency response across the district.
During the meeting, both sides exchanged views on Civil Defence’s role in public service, fire safety measures, preparedness for natural disasters, community awareness programmes and enhanced coordination between government departments.
Speaking on the occasion, Assistant Commissioner Sarah Faraz praised Civil Defence as an institution dedicated to public and humanitarian service. She said the organisation had consistently earned public trust through its professional response to fire emergencies, natural disasters and other crisis situations.
She added that Civil Defence Sukkur has played a commendable role during emergencies and difficult circumstances, demonstrating commitment and professionalism in protecting lives and property.
Deputy Chief Warden Dr Saeed Awan said Civil Defence Sukkur is working under the vision of Deputy Commissioner and Controller Civil Defence Sukkur, Nadir Shehzad Khan, titled “Safe Sukkur, Strong Pakistan”, with a focus on safeguarding lives and property, enhancing emergency preparedness, promoting fire safety, conducting rescue awareness campaigns and encouraging volunteer services.
He said every Civil Defence warden remains committed to serving the community with dedication and a strong sense of public responsibility.
The meeting also concluded with an agreement to launch a district-wide public awareness campaign on fire safety standard operating procedures (SOPs). The campaign will aim to educate citizens, educational institutions, commercial centres and other public places about fire prevention measures and emergency preparedness.
Among those present at the meeting were Muhammad Siddiq Soomro from the Assistant Commissioner’s Office, while Muhammad Asif Sheikh, Lala Imran Mirani, Lala Rehan Pathan, Shahab Hussain and Mahmood-ul-Hassan represented Civil Defence Sukkur.
