Umerkot
To mark October 27 as Black Day and to express solidarity with the oppressed people of Indian-occupied Kashmir, a large rally was organized in Umerkot district, drawing participation from students, teachers, social activists, journalists, and citizens from all walks of life.
The event was organized under the supervision of the District Administration Umerkot, with Assistant Commissioner Rajab Ali Suthio leading the rally. The procession began from the Deputy Commissioner’s Office Umerkot and concluded at the Press Club Umerkot, where participants gathered for speeches and prayers.
A number of prominent figures attended the rally, including Professor Abdul Rauf Soomro, Principal of Degree College Umerkot; Dileep Kumar, Principal of Government Higher Secondary School No. 1; and educators such as Gautam Sangrasi and Agha Shahbaz. Representatives of various educational institutions, students, social organizations, members of the Press Club Management Committee led by Chairman Rasool Bux Rahimdani, community leaders like Mir Hassan Arisar and Maulana Abdul Qadir Jamali, and many other stakeholders participated enthusiastically.
Participants carried banners and placards inscribed with slogans in support of the Kashmiri people and condemning Indian atrocities. The crowd chanted pro-Kashmir slogans such as “Kashmir will be free” and “Stop human rights violations in Kashmir.”
Addressing the rally, Assistant Commissioner Rajab Ali Suthio and other speakers declared October 27 as the “darkest day in the history of South Asia,” recalling the illegal occupation of Jammu and Kashmir by Indian forces on that date in 1947. They strongly condemned India’s continued oppression of the Kashmiri people and called upon the international community and human rights organizations to take immediate notice of the situation in the occupied valley.
