SUKKUR: A woman identified as Saima, wife of Raza Muhammad Mahar and a resident of Somar Village, Khori, Sukkur district, staged a protest outside the Sukkur Press Club, alleging domestic violence, harassment, and forced separation from her four children. She appealed to the authorities to provide her with justice.
Speaking to journalists, Saima claimed that on the morning of July 25, 2026, her husband, Raza Muhammad Mahar, allegedly assaulted her, physically abused her, and ordered her to leave their home. She said neighbors gathered after hearing the commotion and attempted to calm the situation, but her husband allegedly declared in front of them that he no longer wanted her to remain in the house.
According to Saima, her husband later allegedly subjected her to further violence, pronounced divorce in front of witnesses, expelled her from the house, and forcibly kept custody of their four children, leaving her in severe emotional distress and feeling unsafe.
She further alleged that her husband acted at the instigation of her younger sister, Saba, claiming that he frequently stayed at Saba’s residence, spent his income there, and failed to provide financial support for his family. Saima said that whenever she objected to his behavior, she was allegedly subjected to violence, harassment, and mistreatment.
During the protest, Saima urged the police, district administration, and other relevant authorities to immediately reunite her with her four children, conduct a transparent investigation into her allegations of abuse, and take legal action against those found responsible. She also requested protection for herself and her children.
