ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader and Member of the National Assembly Iqbal Afridi has claimed that former Prime Minister Imran Khan told him during their last meeting that members of the party were not following his instructions.
The remarks were made in a video statement shared on social media by PTI leader Faisal Javed Khan.
According to Afridi, during their last meeting at Adiala Jail, Imran Khan told him: “Iqbal, the party is not listening to me. I say this with my hand on the Quran.”
Afridi said that during the meeting he responded by saying: “MQM once had the slogan, ‘Whoever betrays the leader deserves death.’ Today, I say, ‘Whoever betrays Imran deserves death.’”
He further stated that he did not have another meeting with Imran Khan after that conversation. Afridi claimed that if he had met Khan again and Khan had identified individuals who were allegedly not following his directives, “they would not be alive today.”
Afridi also said that he regularly applies for permission to meet the former prime minister. He added that if he is granted another meeting and Imran Khan tells him who is not complying with his instructions, he would take action against those individuals. In the video, Afridi used language that included a direct threat of violence toward anyone he believed was disobeying Khan’s directives.
The statements were made by Iqbal Afridi in the shared video and have drawn attention due to the explicit nature of the remarks. There has been no immediate public response from Imran Khan or PTI’s central leadership regarding Afridi’s claims or his threatening comments.
