MENLO PARK: Instagram has launched a new feature that allows users to change the music on previously published feed posts without losing the engagement those posts have already received.

The new “Replace Audio” feature was announced by Meta, Instagram’s parent company, as part of its ongoing efforts to give users greater control over their content.

With this update, users can replace the soundtrack of an existing feed post and republish it while retaining the post’s original performance metrics.

According to Meta, the feature preserves the post’s likes, comments, shares, and overall reach, eliminating the need to delete and upload the content again simply to change its background music.

The company said the feature was designed to provide creators and everyday users with more flexibility in managing content they have already shared.

By allowing users to update audio without affecting engagement statistics, Instagram aims to make it easier for creators to keep their posts relevant, participate in new music trends, or replace tracks that are no longer available.

The feature is expected to benefit content creators, influencers, and businesses that regularly update their social media content while preserving audience interaction and visibility.

Meta has not yet announced whether the feature will be available to all users simultaneously or be rolled out gradually across different regions and devices.

The introduction of Replace Audio is part of Instagram’s broader strategy to enhance content editing tools and improve the user experience by offering greater creative control over published posts.
