RAWALPINDI: Pakistan’s security forces have killed 10 suspected militants during intelligence-based operations in Balochistan, while also detaining two alleged female suicide bombers and an alleged facilitator, according to the military’s media wing.
In a statement, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said the operations were carried out over the past 48 hours in the districts of Sorab and Mastung against militant networks referred to by the Pakistani state as Fitna al-Hindustan and Fitna al-Khawarij.
According to the ISPR, security forces conducted intelligence-based operations targeting militant hideouts in the two districts.
The military said seven militants were killed in Sorab, while three others were killed in Mastung.
The statement further said that two alleged female suicide bombers, along with an alleged facilitator, were taken into custody during the operations.
According to the ISPR, security personnel also recovered weapons, ammunition, and explosives from the militants’ hideouts.
The military added that clearance operations are continuing in the affected areas to locate and eliminate any remaining militants.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif praised the security forces for what he described as a successful operation against militants in Balochistan.
He also commended the arrest of the two alleged female suicide bombers and their alleged facilitator.
The prime minister said Pakistan would not allow anyone to undermine peace and stability in Balochistan.
He reaffirmed the government’s commitment to continuing counterterrorism operations until the threat of terrorism is eliminated, stating that militant groups are enemies of the province’s peace, development, and prosperity.
Shehbaz Sharif further said that the nation stands alongside the armed forces in their efforts to safeguard the country’s security.
