LAHORE: Police have arrested a young man accused of firing shots into the air near the vehicle of Federal Information Minister Ataullah Tarar in Lahore’s Defence area.
According to police, the suspect, who was driving a car, overtook the minister’s vehicle and allegedly fired several shots into the air.
Police said the suspect was arrested along with the weapon allegedly used in the incident, while the vehicle he was driving has also been taken into custody.
Officials said the incident occurred on Saturday night within the jurisdiction of Defence A Police Station. They added that the suspect was traced and arrested with the assistance of Safe City Authority cameras and other modern investigative technology.
Speaking about the incident, Ataullah Tarar said he was travelling with his family when another vehicle overtook his car from the left side and the driver fired five shots.
The minister said he followed the vehicle and alerted police at a nearby checkpoint.
