MIRPUR, Bangladesh: Pakistan made an impressive start to the South Asian Karate Championship, winning 10 medals on the opening day of the competition, including two gold, one silver, and seven bronze medals.

Mir Hamza Kasi secured Pakistan’s first gold medal after claiming victory in the under-75kg category.

The second gold medal came through Taha Mustafa, who triumphed in the under-63kg junior category.

Pakistan’s women karatekas also delivered strong performances, with Anita Fatima, Hafiza Iqra Munawar, Aqsa Azam, Laiba Zia, and Rabia Farooq each winning bronze medals.

In the men’s events, Mir Waiz Khan earned a silver medal, while Shams Iftikhar and Mir Hamza added bronze medals to Pakistan’s tally.

With two gold, one silver, and seven bronze medals, Pakistan concluded the opening day of the championship with a total of 10 medals, marking a strong start to the regional competition being held in Mirpur, Bangladesh.
