MIRPURKHAS: Members of the Dal community staged a protest rally in Mirpurkhas, demanding justice for Rasul Bakhsh Dal, who they allege died as a result of torture while in police custody in Diplo.

The rally began at Station Chowk and concluded at Gulistan Baldia, with a large number of community elders, relatives of the deceased, and local residents participating.

The protest was led by Haji Muhammad Yousuf Dal, Wadero Niaz Muhammad Dal, Wadero Rasul Bakhsh Dal, Murtaza Ali Dal, Wadero Sahib Dino Dal, Chairman Allah Bakhsh Dal, Ghulam Mustafa Dal, Muhammad Haroon Dal, Abdul Rasheed Dal, Arz Muhammad Dal, Abdullah Dal, Shahzad Dal, Haji Qadir Bakhsh Dal, Haji Ali Nawaz Dal, Ali Razaq Dal, and Barrister Munawar Ali Dal.

Chanting slogans, the protesters alleged that Rasul Bakhsh Dal had been arrested on false theft charges and was subjected to torture while in police custody, which they claim led to his death.

The demonstrators said that although a case has been registered against some police personnel in connection with the incident, they alleged that the Station House Officer (SHO) Asghar Qaimkhani, whom they describe as the main accused, was not named in the case.

They demanded that a murder case be registered against SHO Asghar Qaimkhani and all other police officials allegedly involved, and called for their immediate arrest. The protesters also urged the authorities to ensure justice for the victim’s family.

The participants warned that if their demands are not met, they will expand their protest campaign. The allegations made by the protesters have not been independently verified, and the position of the police regarding these claims was not available at the time of reporting.
