ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said Pakistan played a significant role in promoting peace in the region, adding that the country’s mediation efforts between Iran and the United States would be remembered as an important diplomatic achievement.
Addressing the Pakistan-China Pharmaceutical B2B Investment Conference in Islamabad, the prime minister said the recent regional crisis had affected not only neighboring countries but the entire world.
He stated that Pakistan acted as a mediator in the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding between Iran and the United States, and praised the Field Marshal for his tireless efforts in the reconciliation process, saying they would be remembered in history.
Highlighting Pakistan-China relations, the prime minister described China as Pakistan’s most reliable and sincere friend. He said the security of Chinese nationals working in Pakistan remains the government’s top priority.
Shehbaz Sharif welcomed investment agreements worth more than $440 million in the health sector, describing them as another important step toward advancing CPEC Phase II and strengthening economic cooperation between the two countries.
Speaking at the conference, Chinese Ambassador Jiang Zaidong said Pakistan’s economy is improving under Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s leadership and reaffirmed China’s continued support for Pakistan in promoting regional peace and stability.
He added that Pakistan offers significant opportunities for growth and investment in the healthcare sector.
Federal Health Minister Mustafa Kamal said the government is working as a unified team under the prime minister’s leadership and described the business conference as part of Shehbaz Sharif’s vision to boost investment.
Prime Minister’s Special Assistant Haroon Akhtar said the premier’s recent visit to China had opened a new chapter in bilateral economic cooperation, creating fresh opportunities for investment, technology transfer, and industrial collaboration.
