ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister’s Adviser Rana Sanaullah has said that constitutional and legal issues cannot be resolved through protests or sit-ins, stressing that such matters fall within the authority of the legislative assembly.
Speaking at a ceremony in Islamabad, Rana Sanaullah criticized the banned Action Committee for adopting what he described as the wrong approach, saying constitutional disputes should be addressed through democratic and legal institutions.
Referring to the upcoming elections in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK), he expressed confidence that the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) would perform strongly, adding that once the new assembly is formed, the issue of the 12 reserved seats should be taken up there for a decision.
He also said Pakistan’s nuclear program remains the guarantee of the country’s survival and praised the armed forces, stating that under the leadership of the Field Marshal they had achieved a historic victory in the “Battle for Truth” (Marka-e-Haq).
Commenting on Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (F) chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman’s remarks regarding the martyrs, Rana Sanaullah described the statement as inappropriate and suggested that withdrawing it would reflect positively on the JUI-F leader.
Addressing the security situation, he said many people wanted to join the fight against terrorists in Haneh Urak. He argued that encouraging local communities to develop basic self-defence capabilities against terrorism should not be considered objectionable, adding that Maulana Fazlur Rehman’s comments appeared to have been made in the heat of the moment rather than as part of any broader agenda.
