MUZAFFARABAD: Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) Home Secretary Chaudhry Guftar Hussain has alleged that the banned Action Committee is attempting to undermine peace, the economy, and the stability of the state, while police officials said operations against the group are continuing.
Addressing a press conference in Muzaffarabad alongside AJK Police spokesperson Irfan Masood Kashifi, the Home Secretary accused the committee of carrying out what he described as a sustained campaign of negative propaganda against state institutions.
According to Chaudhry Guftar Hussain, members of the committee have disrupted the daily lives of citizens for several days through their activities.
“The banned Action Committee has made negative propaganda against state institutions a routine practice,” he said.
He further alleged that the group’s primary objective is to damage public order, economic activity, and institutional stability.
“The real aim of the banned Action Committee is to harm peace, the economy, and the stability of the state,” the Home Secretary stated, adding that the government would not permit any organization or group to disrupt normal public life.
He emphasized that the administration is committed to maintaining law and order and ensuring that citizens can carry out their daily activities without disruption.
During the same press conference, AJK Police spokesperson Irfan Masood Kashifi said law enforcement agencies are continuing an operation against the banned committee.
He stated that protecting the lives and property of the public remains the police’s top priority.
“A full-scale operation against the banned Action Committee is underway. Protecting the lives and property of citizens is our foremost priority,” Kashifi said.
The police spokesperson also asserted that authorities would not allow any armed group to threaten peace or challenge the writ of the state.
“We will not allow any armed group to destroy the state’s peace and stability,” he added.
The statements come amid ongoing tensions involving the banned Action Committee and the government’s efforts to maintain public order.
The Home Secretary and police officials did not provide additional details regarding the scope of the ongoing operation, the number of arrests made, or any specific incidents linked to the group’s alleged activities.
