BUDAPEST: After Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and several other world leaders, Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán has also expressed admiration for the taste of Pakistani mangoes gifted by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.
In a post shared on social media, the Hungarian premier said that a pleasant surprise was waiting for him when he returned to his office at the end of the day.
Sharing a photograph of the gift, Orbán revealed that he had received 90 Pakistani mangoes sent by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.
The Hungarian leader praised the fruit’s exceptional taste, saying the mangoes were so delicious that almost all of them were eaten within just one hour.
“When I arrived at my office at the end of the day, a wonderful gift was waiting for me,” Orbán wrote, alongside a picture of the mangoes. He added that the generous gift from the Pakistani prime minister was greatly appreciated.
Pakistani mangoes are widely regarded as among the finest in the world because of their rich flavor, sweetness, and aroma. Every year, Pakistan exports mangoes to dozens of countries, and the fruit is often presented as a diplomatic gift to foreign leaders during the mango harvesting season.
The appreciation from Hungary’s prime minister follows similar praise from Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and other international leaders, who have previously commended the quality and taste of Pakistani mangoes received as gifts from Islamabad.
The exchange of seasonal gifts such as mangoes has become a longstanding tradition in Pakistan’s diplomatic outreach, serving as a gesture of goodwill and cultural friendship while also promoting one of the country’s most celebrated agricultural products on the global stage.
