ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founding leader Akbar S. Babar has announced a campaign to reconnect with the party’s long-time ideological workers, saying the initiative is aimed at protecting and revitalizing the party.
According to the announcement, Babar has begun efforts to establish contact with what he described as PTI’s sincere, ideological, and veteran members. As part of the initiative, he and several founding members are preparing consultations to determine the party’s future course of action.
The development comes as Ameen Zaki, Rana Sohail, Rana Jaleel, and Hanif Rajput, all identified as founding members of PTI, have become active in organizing a meeting to discuss the party’s internal situation and formulate a strategy for the future.
Speaking after announcing the outreach campaign, Akbar S. Babar said the party was originally established to free the nation from what he termed “political and other forms of mafia control.” He claimed that the party itself has now fallen under the influence of a “political mafia.”
Babar said the objective of the campaign is to reconnect with committed party workers and founding members who have remained associated with PTI since its early years, and to seek their input on the party’s future direction.
The announcement follows recent political developments involving PTI, including the party’s rejection of the federal budget and statements by its leadership regarding national security issues.
The planned meeting of founding members is expected to focus on the party’s internal affairs, organizational structure, and possible steps to strengthen its ideological foundations. However, no specific date for the meeting or further details about the proposed strategy have been announced.
The latest move by Akbar S. Babar reflects renewed activity among some of PTI’s founding members, who say they intend to engage veteran workers in discussions about the party’s future and organizational direction.
