UNITED NATIONS: Pakistan’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Ambassador Asim Iftikhar Ahmad, has said that rising tensions in the region serve no one’s interests, urging all parties to end the cycle of violence and instability through dialogue and diplomacy.

Speaking during a meeting of the United Nations Security Council, Ambassador Asim Iftikhar emphasized that sustained diplomatic engagement remains the only viable path toward resolving disputes and ensuring lasting regional peace.

He said that increasing regional tensions benefit no country and warned that continued violence and instability could have far-reaching consequences for peace and security.

“The growing tensions in the region are not in anyone’s interest. The cycle of violence and instability must come to an end,” the Pakistani envoy said.

Ambassador Asim stressed that diplomacy and continuous negotiations are the only sustainable means of addressing contentious issues and preventing further escalation.

He reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to supporting efforts aimed at reducing tensions, achieving a ceasefire, and promoting regional stability through constructive diplomatic engagement.

The ambassador said Pakistan continues to play a positive and responsible role in encouraging dialogue among the concerned parties and remains committed to initiatives that foster peace and mutual understanding.

He also urged all sides to exercise restraint, particularly during sensitive diplomatic negotiations, and to avoid statements or actions that could fuel misunderstandings or further heighten tensions.

According to the Pakistani envoy, confidence-building measures and continued communication are essential for preventing conflicts from escalating and for creating an environment conducive to meaningful negotiations.

Pakistan has consistently advocated the peaceful settlement of disputes in accordance with international law and the principles of the United Nations Charter. Ambassador Asim reiterated that only dialogue, diplomacy, and sustained engagement can produce durable solutions to complex regional challenges.

His remarks reflect Pakistan’s broader diplomatic position in favor of de-escalation, ceasefire efforts, and regional cooperation as tensions continue to affect peace and security in the wider region.
