QUETTA: At least three people were killed and eight others injured in an armed attack carried out by unidentified gunmen in the Hanna Urak area on the outskirts of Quetta, prompting protests and renewed calls for stronger security measures.

According to local authorities, the attack targeted residents in the area, resulting in multiple casualties. The injured were shifted to nearby medical facilities for treatment, while security forces launched an investigation into the incident.

Following the attack, residents and relatives of the victims staged a protest sit-in on Airport Road, blocking traffic and demanding the immediate arrest of those responsible. Demonstrators called on the government to enhance security arrangements and ensure justice for the affected families.

In response to the incident, Balochistan Interior Minister Ziaullah Langove visited the area during the night and met tribal elders and local youth in Killi Babri. During the meeting, he assured community leaders that a joint security check post would be established to strengthen security and prevent similar incidents in the future.

The minister expressed condolences to the families of the victims and pledged that the provincial government would take all necessary measures to improve law and order in the region.

Meanwhile, Governor of Balochistan Jaffar Khan Mandokhail strongly condemned the attack, describing it as a terrorist act. He expressed deep sorrow over the deaths of local tribal residents and extended sympathies to the bereaved families.

The governor directed relevant law enforcement and security agencies to conduct an immediate investigation, arrest the perpetrators, and bring them to justice. He emphasized that those responsible for the attack must be held accountable under the law.

Security officials have begun collecting evidence and gathering information to determine the motives behind the assault. No group has immediately claimed responsibility for the attack.

The incident has once again highlighted ongoing security concerns in parts of Balochistan, where authorities continue efforts to maintain stability and protect local communities from violence and militant activity.
