LAHORE: Investigators have made significant progress in the high-profile case involving the alleged kidnapping and gang rape of two foreign women in Lahore’s Defence area, with forensic testing reportedly matching the DNA of three suspects to evidence collected during the investigation.

According to investigative sources, forensic analysis has confirmed DNA matches for three of the suspects accused of sexually assaulting one of the foreign women. Officials said the primary suspect, identified as Nawaz, is among those whose DNA has matched the forensic evidence.

Sources further alleged that Nawaz was the first suspect to assault the victim and later encouraged the other accused individuals to participate in the alleged crime.

Police had earlier collected DNA samples from eight suspects and submitted them to a forensic laboratory for cross-matching with evidence obtained during the investigation. Authorities said analysis of the remaining suspects’ DNA samples is still underway.

Separate FIR Filed Over Vehicle Collision

In a related development, the owner of a vehicle damaged during the suspects’ attempted escape has also registered a police case.

According to the complaint filed by Usman, he was driving from a private housing society toward Bhatta Chowk when another vehicle collided with his car on Airport Road, causing damage estimated at Rs300,000. The driver of the other vehicle allegedly fled the scene after the collision.

Police said that after Usman contacted the emergency helpline, officers arrived at the location. Investigators believe the collision created an opportunity for the two foreign women to escape from the suspects’ vehicle and seek refuge inside a nearby shop before being rescued by police.

SHO Granted Interim Bail

Meanwhile, another legal development has emerged in connection with the broader investigation.

The Station House Officer (SHO) of Defence C Police Station, Faryad Ali, has secured interim bail in a separate case accusing him of threatening a judicial magistrate.

A sessions court in Lahore directed police not to arrest the SHO until July 10, issued notices to the prosecution, and ordered him to join the investigation.

An FIR against the SHO had previously been registered at Mustafa Abad Police Station, alleging that he visited the residence of a judicial magistrate and issued threats.

The investigation into the alleged kidnapping and gang rape remains ongoing. Police continue to examine forensic evidence, witness statements, and other material as authorities work to establish the complete sequence of events and determine the responsibility of each suspect through the judicial process.
