RAWALPINDI: Pakistani authorities have stepped up enforcement measures against Afghan nationals following the expiration of the government’s deadline, with police beginning detentions of individuals holding Afghan Citizen Cards (ACCs) in various parts of Rawalpindi.
According to police sources, more than 50 Afghan nationals carrying Afghan Citizen Cards have been taken into custody from different areas and transferred to designated holding centres as part of the ongoing repatriation process.
Officials said the detained individuals will be processed at the holding camps before being deported to Afghanistan in accordance with the government’s directives.
Police sources further stated that family members of Afghan Citizen Card holders will also be taken into custody and shifted to the holding centres before their return to Afghanistan.
The intensified operation comes after the expiry of the government’s deadline for certain categories of Afghan nationals to leave Pakistan or regularize their status. Authorities have indicated that enforcement actions will continue in accordance with existing immigration and repatriation policies.
Officials have not yet released detailed figures on the total number of detentions nationwide, but security agencies say operations are ongoing in multiple areas as part of the broader implementation of the government’s repatriation plan.
