Pakistani Rangers in Sindh foiled an attack on one of their camps in Karachi after militants linked to a banned group attempted to breach the facility, officials said on Sunday.

According to the Inter-Services Public Relations, the assault was carried out by militants from the banned group Jamaat-ul-Ahrar, an Indian proxy.

The attackers reportedly detonated an explosive device at the main gate of the camp before trying to force their way through the security perimeter.

Rangers personnel responded immediately, and the attackers’ attempt was repelled.

In the exchange of fire that followed, three militants were killed and one was taken into custody in wounded condition.

The arrested attacker was identified as an India-backed Afghan national.

The Pakistan Army’s media wing said three brave soldiers were martyred during the gun battle, while four personnel sustained injuries.

A clearance operation is continuing in the area to eliminate any remaining suspected militants backed from abroad.

The statement added that security forces and law-enforcement agencies are continuing counter-terrorism operations under the Resolve for Stability vision.

It also said efforts would continue until the threat of externally sponsored terrorism is fully removed.

COAS’s condolence message

The ISPR also said Chief of Army Staff (COAS) and Chief of Defence Forces (CDF) Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir had expressed condolences to the families of the martyred personnel.

He said in his condolence message that the sacrifices of Pakistan Army personnel had further strengthened the nation’s resolve to defend Pakistan.

President, PM, interior minister pay tribute to martyred personnel

President Asif Ali Zardari, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi have paid rich tribute to the Rangers personnel who embraced martyrdom while thwarting a terrorist attack on a Rangers camp in Karachi.

President Zardari said the nation would never forget the sacrifices rendered by its brave soldiers in defence of the country. He lauded the courage and commitment of the martyrs, saying their services would always be remembered with honour and respect.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif praised the Rangers for displaying exceptional bravery, professionalism and devotion to duty while repelling the attack. He said the force had set a new example of courage and sacrifice in the fight against terrorism.

Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi said the martyred personnel were heroes of the entire nation who laid down their lives while successfully foiling the terrorist assault. He added that the sacrifices of the martyrs had further strengthened the country’s resolve to eliminate terrorism.

Bilawal, Bugti condemns attack on Rangers 

In a statement, Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has strongly condemned the attack on a Rangers camp in Karachi.

Bilawal praised the professionalism and swift response of the security forces, who successfully neutralised the attackers and prevented them from achieving their objectives. He commended the courage and preparedness displayed by personnel during the operation.

The PPP chairman also expressed deep sorrow over the martyrdom of three security personnel who lost their lives during the exchange of fire. He paid tribute to the fallen officers and extended his heartfelt condolences to their families.

Bilawal reaffirmed his unwavering support for the country’s security forces, saying they continue to stand at the forefront of the fight against terrorism and play a vital role in safeguarding national security.

In a separate statement, Balochistan Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti has strongly condemned the terrorist attack on a Pakistan Rangers (Sindh) camp in Karachi, describing it as an assault on the country’s peace and security.

He paid tribute to the Rangers personnel who embraced martyrdom while defending the nation. He said the fallen soldiers were the pride of the entire country and that their sacrifices would never be forgotten.

Bugti expressed sympathy and solidarity with the families of the martyrs, praying for strength and patience for their loved ones during this difficult time. He also prayed for the speedy recovery of the injured personnel who were wounded during the attack.

The chief minister said that Pakistan’s armed forces and law enforcement agencies had rendered immense sacrifices in the fight against terrorism and continued to play a vital role in safeguarding the country’s stability.
