The British Department of Transport team arrived in Pakistan to conduct safety audits of Lahore and Islamabad airports for direct flights from Pakistan to the UK,
According to sources, the British team will begin safety audits of both airports from tomorrow, June 29.
The first phase will be the audit of Allama Iqbal International Airport in Lahore.
A team of British experts will review the arrangements at both airports for direct flights to the UK at Lahore and Islamabad airports.
The British team will examine the CCTV operations and security measures of Islamabad and Lahore airports.
It will also review cargo handling and flight catering at both airports.
The Pakistan Civil Aviation Authority will assist the British Department of Transport team.
PIA, the Pakistan Airports Authority, and ASF Customs officials deployed at Islamabad and Lahore airports have also completed preparations.
The aim of the British Department of Transport audit is to review the foolproof safety arrangements for direct flights from Pakistan to the UK.
Currently, only PIA direct flights from Pakistan are going to London and Manchester.
