Sources told the that the JAAC workers were taken into custody at a checkpoint while they were on their way from Tarsawa to Kotli.

They added that those arrested had confessed during initial interrogation that they worked for Imtiaz Aslam, who was one of the leaders of the committee.

Ali, one of the JAAC members, told the police that he and others accompanying him had been ordered by the committee’s high command to carry weapons with them.

He said he had been a member of the committee for the last three years. “But now, I have nothing to do with these people because they mislead the youth in the name of items of daily use such as flour, sugar and electricity, but they had other plans.”
