Lahore: The Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) has formally raised objections to the Punjab government’s budget, prompting the party’s parliamentary leadership to convene an important meeting in the Punjab Assembly to discuss its concerns and future strategy.

The development signals growing differences over provincial budget priorities despite ongoing political cooperation between the PPP and the ruling coalition at the federal level.

PPP Summons Important Meeting

According to party sources, the PPP Parliamentary Party has called a meeting in the Punjab Assembly to review the provincial budget and formulate its position on various allocations and policy measures.

The meeting is expected to focus on concerns raised by party lawmakers regarding regional development, agriculture, and resource distribution.

Concerns Over South Punjab

PPP leader Ali Gilani stated that one of the party’s major objections relates to the issue of South Punjab.

He argued that progress toward the creation of a separate South Punjab province has not been made, despite longstanding commitments and demands from the region.

According to Gilani, the budget does not adequately address the aspirations and development needs of South Punjab’s population.
