Lahore: Punjab Education Minister Rana Sikandar Hayat has announced a significant increase in funding for higher education institutions, stating that the provincial government has raised the budget for universities from Rs2 billion to Rs25 billion.
The minister made the remarks while addressing a ceremony organized by the Higher Education Commission (HEC) Pakistan in honor of scientists and researchers.
Massive Increase in Higher Education Funding
Rana Sikandar Hayat said the Punjab government has substantially strengthened financial support for public universities.
According to the minister, funding for universities has increased by approximately 1,100 percent, reflecting the government’s commitment to improving higher education standards across the province.

He stated that nearly 40 candidates who recently passed the CSS examination were students of Punjab University, describing the achievement as evidence of the institution’s academic strength and contribution to public service.
