Tando Jam (Mahboob Hussain Bozdar): Tando Jam Police have seized a Mazda vehicle allegedly loaded with a large quantity of Safina gutka during a raid conducted on the basis of secret information, while the suspects managed to escape after abandoning the vehicle.

According to reports, the operation was carried out near Abri Mor, close to Khisana Mori, where police intercepted a Mazda truck bearing registration number TKG-436. During a search of the vehicle, officers recovered 137 cartons of Safina gutka, a prohibited chewing tobacco product.

SHO Tando Jam Malik Abro stated that three suspects identified as Adnan Pathan, Razzaq Jamali, and Gul Jamali were allegedly traveling in the vehicle. Upon noticing the police action, the suspects reportedly fled the scene, leaving the Mazda behind. Police said efforts are underway to trace and arrest the absconding individuals.

The seized vehicle and recovered gutka were taken into police custody as evidence, and further legal proceedings have been initiated.

Local Residents Raise Questions

Meanwhile, some local residents have made allegations regarding the handling of the seized vehicle after the operation. According to their claims, the Mazda was reportedly kept for several hours at the farmhouse of an influential individual before being shifted to the police station.

Residents further alleged that certain individuals believed to be dealers arrived at the farmhouse during that period. These claims have not been independently verified.

Sources also claimed that videos showing the vehicle parked at the farmhouse later surfaced on social media and went viral. Following the circulation of those videos, the vehicle was reportedly moved to the police station.

Case Registered

Tando Jam Police have registered a case against the suspects under Case No. 128/2026 pursuant to Section 8 of the Sindh Prohibition of Manufacture, Sale and Storage of Gutka and Mainpuri Act, 2019.

Police officials said an investigation is ongoing to determine the full circumstances of the case, identify all individuals involved, and uncover any possible network linked to the transportation and distribution of prohibited tobacco products in the region.

Authorities have reiterated their commitment to continuing operations against the illegal manufacture, transportation, and sale of gutka and other banned substances across the district.
