Dadu (District Reporter: Mukhtiar Ali Jatoi): A citizen of Dadu has held a press conference alleging widespread corruption, bribery, and the involvement of an “agent mafia” at the local passport office, and has called on higher authorities to take immediate notice of the matter.
Allegations Raised at Press Conference
Resident Photo Khan Barhamani, from Dhamaali Chowk in Dadu, addressed a press conference at the PCU Press Club Dadu, where he strongly protested against alleged misconduct by passport office staff, particularly naming an official identified as Nawab Solangi, along with other employees.
He claimed that ordinary citizens are being deliberately harassed and forced to deal with unofficial agents when applying for passports.
Claims of Bribery and Agent System
The complainant alleged that:
- Applicants are being pressured to pay heavy bribes for routine passport services
- Those who refuse to pay are deliberately delayed or face unnecessary hurdles
- A network of agents is operating inside or around the passport office with alleged backing from staff
He further stated that he has been visiting the office for the past 15 days, but his work remains incomplete unless he pays a demanded amount of Rs100,000.
“Official Directed Me to Islamabad,” Claim
Photo Khan Barhamani alleged that when he raised the issue with the concerned passport officer, he was told to go to Islamabad instead of being assisted locally.
He interpreted this response as evidence of a possible nexus between office staff and agents, which he believes is causing systematic exploitation of citizens.
Appeal to Higher Authorities
The complainant urged multiple federal and accountability institutions to intervene, including:
- Ministry of Interior
- Director General Passport & Immigration
- Anti-Corruption authorities
- Other relevant departments
He demanded a transparent inquiry into the allegations and strict legal action if corruption is proven, stating that public trust in government institutions must be restored.
Warning of Legal Struggle
He also warned that if his grievance is not addressed, he will continue his struggle through legal and constitutional means to seek justice.
The allegations have added to ongoing public concerns about delays, corruption complaints, and the role of intermediaries in public service offices, particularly in passport-related processes.
