Makkah: Former Pakistan cricket captain and legendary fast bowler Wasim Akram has shared his experience of performing Hajj this year, saying that the pilgrimage itself was not difficult for him, but the constant requests for selfies proved exhausting.

Wasim Akram performed Hajj alongside former Pakistan captain Misbah-ul-Haq and television presenter Fakhr Alam. Photos and videos of the trio during the pilgrimage gained widespread attention on social media, with many fans congratulating them on completing the religious journey.

In a video shared on his Instagram account, Fakhr Alam extended Hajj and Eid greetings to followers and spoke with Wasim Akram about his experience. During the conversation, Akram was asked whether he faced any particular challenges while performing Hajj, especially given that he is living with diabetes.

Responding with his trademark sense of humor, Wasim Akram said that the Hajj rituals themselves were not especially difficult for him. Instead, he joked that what truly tired him was the large number of people who wanted to take selfies with him throughout the pilgrimage.

The former cricket star explained that he was approached by many admirers and fellow pilgrims who recognized him and wanted photographs. While he appreciated the affection shown by fans, the continuous requests made the experience physically demanding at times.

Akram’s comments were received positively by social media users, many of whom praised his humility and willingness to interact with people despite the crowds. Others noted that his popularity remains immense, not only in Pakistan but also among cricket fans around the world.

As one of Pakistan’s greatest cricketers, Wasim Akram continues to enjoy widespread recognition decades after his retirement. His appearance at Hajj attracted significant attention, with many pilgrims eager to meet the cricketing icon.

The former captain also expressed gratitude for being able to perform Hajj and reflected on the spiritual significance of the journey. Like many pilgrims, he described the experience as deeply meaningful and memorable.

Wasim Akram, Misbah-ul-Haq, and Fakhr Alam were among several well-known Pakistani personalities who performed Hajj this year, sharing glimpses of their pilgrimage with followers through social media posts and videos.

While the crowds and selfie requests may have added to the physical demands of the trip, Akram’s remarks suggest that he completed the pilgrimage successfully and cherished the opportunity to fulfill one of Islam’s most important religious obligations.
