Sydney / Rawalpindi: Australia’s limited-overs captain Mitchell Marsh is reportedly doubtful for the upcoming ODI series against Pakistan due to injury concerns and fatigue, according to Australian media reports.
The first ODI between Pakistan and Australia is scheduled to take place on May 30 in Rawalpindi, followed by two additional matches on June 2 and June 4 in Lahore.
Reports suggest that Marsh suffered an ankle injury during the Indian Premier League (IPL) and has also been dealing with fatigue following the demanding T20 league schedule. These factors have raised doubts over his availability for the three-match ODI series.
In Marsh’s possible absence, wicketkeeper-batter Josh Inglis is being considered a strong candidate to lead the Australian side. With regular captain Pat Cummins and key batter Travis Head unavailable due to IPL commitments, Australia’s squad is expected to feature a relatively inexperienced leadership group.
The potential absence of Marsh could also open the door for young batter Ollie Peake to make his international debut during the series.
Cricket analysts note that Australia is likely to field a rotated squad for the Pakistan tour, as several senior players are managing workloads following a busy international and franchise calendar.
For Pakistan, the series presents an important opportunity to test combinations and build momentum at home against a strong but possibly under-strength Australian side.
The tour is expected to draw significant attention as both teams continue preparations for upcoming international tournaments, including the next ICC events.
