North Waziristan: Pakistani security forces achieved a major success during an intelligence-based operation in North Waziristan, killing four militants including a wanted militant commander allegedly involved in multiple terrorist attacks against security personnel and civilians.

According to security sources, the operation was carried out in the Spinwam area of North Waziristan after intelligence reports regarding the presence of militants in the region.

During the operation, security forces engaged the militants in a fierce exchange of fire, resulting in the killing of four terrorists, including militant commander Umar alias Jan Mir, who was described by officials as a high-value target.

Security sources stated that Umar alias Jan Mir had allegedly established underground bunkers, tunnels, and explosive traps around the Bobali Mosque area in Spinwam in an effort to evade security operations and target forces entering the region.

Officials said the militant commander was considered a dangerous operative and was allegedly involved in planning and masterminding several terrorist attacks targeting security forces and civilians in North Waziristan and nearby areas.

According to security officials, the government had placed a bounty of Rs3 million on the head of Umar alias Jan Mir due to his alleged involvement in terrorism-related activities.

Sources added that the operation was conducted with careful planning after intelligence agencies tracked the movement and hideouts of the militants.

The successful operation is being viewed as another significant achievement in Pakistan’s ongoing counterterrorism efforts, particularly in the tribal districts where security forces have continued operations against militant networks.

North Waziristan has long remained one of the key areas affected by militancy and extremist violence. Over the years, Pakistani security forces have launched multiple military and intelligence-based operations to dismantle terrorist infrastructure and restore stability in the region.

Officials said security personnel faced difficult terrain and security risks during the latest operation because militants had allegedly prepared defensive positions, underground routes, and explosive devices around their hideouts.

Despite these challenges, security forces successfully neutralized the militants and secured the area, according to sources.

Security agencies have also reportedly begun search and clearance operations in nearby areas to ensure that no remaining militants or explosive materials are present in the region.

Authorities stated that weapons, ammunition, and other materials linked to militant activities were recovered during the operation, though detailed information regarding the seized items has not yet been officially released.

Pakistan has witnessed a rise in militant attacks in certain regions over recent years, leading to intensified counterterrorism operations by security agencies across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan.

Military analysts say intelligence-based operations have become a crucial strategy in targeting militant leadership and disrupting extremist networks before they can carry out attacks.

Local residents in North Waziristan have repeatedly demanded lasting peace and stronger action against militant groups operating in remote areas.

Security officials reaffirmed their commitment to continuing operations against terrorists and ensuring the protection of civilians and national security.

The elimination of Umar alias Jan Mir is being considered a major blow to militant networks operating in the Spinwam region due to his alleged role in coordinating attacks and maintaining militant infrastructure.

Authorities emphasized that operations against extremist elements would continue until complete peace and stability are restored in the region.

The latest operation once again highlights the ongoing security challenges in Pakistan’s tribal districts as well as the continued efforts by security forces to counter militancy and maintain law and order.
