Islamabad: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has said that China’s extraordinary development and transformation over the past several decades have become a source of inspiration for developing nations across the world, including Pakistan, while reaffirming the deep-rooted and strategic partnership between Islamabad and Beijing.
The prime minister expressed these views in a special message issued on the occasion of the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Pakistan and China, congratulating the governments and peoples of both countries on completing seventy-five years of close cooperation, friendship, and mutual trust.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said Pakistan takes immense pride in its historic and time-tested relationship with China, which has steadily evolved into what both countries describe as an “all-weather strategic cooperative partnership.”
“China’s remarkable development, modernization, and transformation are a source of inspiration and a model worthy of emulation for developing countries,” the prime minister stated.
He noted that despite changing regional and global circumstances, the friendship between Pakistan and China has continued to grow stronger, more effective, and strategically more important over time.
According to the prime minister, Pakistan and China remain committed to the principles of peaceful coexistence, multilateral cooperation, regional stability, and inclusive economic development. He added that the relationship between the two countries has withstood every challenge and has consistently contributed to peace and prosperity in the region.
Shehbaz Sharif also highlighted the importance of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), describing it as one of the most significant symbols of bilateral cooperation between the two nations.
He said CPEC has played a crucial role in the development of Pakistan’s infrastructure, energy sector, transportation network, and industrial cooperation.
“CPEC has contributed significantly to the improvement of Pakistan’s infrastructure, energy security, and industrial growth,” he said.
The prime minister emphasized that projects completed under CPEC have helped Pakistan address critical energy shortages, modernize road and transport systems, and create opportunities for economic expansion and employment generation.
Launched in 2015, CPEC is a flagship project of China’s Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) and includes investments in highways, railways, ports, power plants, and special economic zones across Pakistan.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif stated that the next phase of CPEC would focus more on industrialization, agriculture, information technology, innovation, and business-to-business cooperation.
He said Pakistan highly values China’s continued support in difficult times and acknowledged Beijing’s role in helping Pakistan pursue economic stability and long-term development goals.
The prime minister also stressed that the relationship between Pakistan and China extends beyond governments and official institutions, as the people of both countries share strong bonds of friendship, trust, and mutual respect.
He praised the Chinese leadership for supporting Pakistan on regional and international forums and reiterated Islamabad’s firm commitment to the “One China Policy.”
According to Shehbaz Sharif, both countries have always supported each other’s sovereignty, territorial integrity, and core national interests.
Political analysts believe the 75th anniversary celebrations reflect the enduring strategic importance of Pakistan-China relations at a time when global geopolitical dynamics are rapidly changing.
Experts say China remains one of Pakistan’s closest diplomatic and economic partners, while Pakistan serves as an important regional ally for Beijing under the Belt and Road Initiative.
The anniversary celebrations are expected to include high-level diplomatic engagements, cultural activities, and official meetings aimed at deepening cooperation in trade, technology, defense, and investment.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif also expressed optimism regarding future cooperation between the two countries and said Pakistan is eager to learn from China’s experience in poverty reduction, economic planning, industrial development, and technological advancement.
He stated that Pakistan seeks to strengthen collaboration with China in areas including renewable energy, digital economy, education, climate resilience, and infrastructure modernization.
Observers say Pakistan’s leadership continues to view China as a key strategic partner capable of contributing to the country’s economic recovery and long-term development.
The prime minister concluded his message by expressing confidence that the friendship between Pakistan and China would continue to grow stronger in the years ahead and would contribute positively to regional peace, stability, and prosperity.
The completion of 75 years of diplomatic relations is being celebrated in both countries as a reflection of one of the most stable and enduring bilateral partnerships in modern international relations.
