The Sindh government has amended the recruitment rules of the Sindh Public Service Commission (SPSC) following approval from the provincial cabinet, issuing an official notification outlining key changes to the examination.
Under the revised rules, candidates will face a negative marking of 0.25 marks for each incorrect answer in SPSC examinations. The minimum passing marks have been reduced from 40% to 33%.
Candidates appearing in a 200-mark examination will now need to secure 66 marks to pass instead of previous 80 marks.
The number of attempts allowed for SPSC examinations has also been increased from three to five. Candidates will be able to use these five attempts within a period of three years.
The amended rules also provide for an increase in the age limit from 30 to 33 years under the relevant provision. According to the notification, this amendment will remain effective for three years.
Meanwhile, the examination fee has been reduced from Rs300 to Rs250. The revised rules also incorporate the commission’s e-services, mobile application and artificial intelligence (AI) into its regulatory framework.
