Pilgrims performing Hajj under the government scheme have been asked to pay the second instalment of their dues by October 20, with the Ministry of Religious Affairs and Interfaith Harmony warning that applications of those who miss the deadline may be cancelled.

In an update issued on Monday, the ministry’s spokesperson said only one day remained to complete the payment and urged applicants to deposit their dues on time to avoid cancellation.

Payments can be made through the National IT Board’s Hajj portal or the Pak Hajj app, the spokesperson said. On the portal, dues can be paid by bank card, 1Link or a manual bank challan.

The spokesperson also said applicants must download the medical fitness certificate from the Hajj portal, have it verified by a doctor and upload the verified copy to the portal. Pilgrims were advised to use the Pak Hajj app for new information and instructions.

The Hajj 2027 application process opened on August 17, when Federal Minister for Religious Affairs Sardar Muhammad Yousuf had announced that applications for the first instalment would be accepted from that date and the second instalment collected in October.

The government scheme has a total quota of 107,526 pilgrims, while about 400,000 people were expected to register for Hajj 2027. A separate quota of 30,000 was allocated to the short Hajj scheme, with applications processed on a first-come, first-served basis until it is filled.

The minister said the entire application process had been digitised to spare applicants visits to banks and long queues, and that a private bank had been designated as the official partner for receiving applications through more than 1,700 branches nationwide, without charging fees in line with Islamic banking guidelines. Private Hajj pilgrims, he said, could select an operator and pay through the Pak Hajj app, and he urged them not to make direct payments to any operator.
