SUKKUR, September 2026: The National Advocacy for Rights of Innocent (NARI) Foundation has reaffirmed its commitment to promoting the rights, dignity, inclusion and socio-economic empowerment of Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) in Sukkur and across Sindh.

As part of its disability-inclusive efforts, NARI Foundation conducted a Phase-I PWD Baseline Survey in Sukkur District, identifying and documenting 200 Persons with Disabilities. The survey highlighted key challenges related to disability certification, Special CNICs, inclusive education, employment, vocational skills, healthcare, rehabilitation, accessibility, assistive devices and awareness of rights and government services.

The findings indicate that many PWDs continue to face social, economic and institutional barriers that limit their participation and access to essential services. Limited livelihood opportunities, inaccessible infrastructure, transportation barriers, inadequate rehabilitation and weak awareness of available entitlements were identified among the major concerns.

Mr.Anwar Mahar, Executive Director, NARI Foundation, said that the baseline findings provide an important evidence base for strengthening community outreach, vocational skills development, rehabilitation, employment linkages, referrals and access to essential services for PWDs.

Ms.Afshan Asghar, Chairperson, NARI Foundation, emphasized the importance of a rights-based and inclusive approach that ensures dignity, equal opportunities and meaningful participation of persons with disabilities, particularly women and children.

NARI Foundation is advocating for stronger collaboration among government institutions, civil society, communities and development partners to expand accessible and sustainable opportunities for PWDs in Sukkur and other underserved areas of Sindh Pakistan.
