RAWALPINDI: Pakistan’s armed forces are set to hold a prestigious ceremony at the General Headquarters (GHQ) in Rawalpindi today to commemorate the first anniversary of what officials describe as Pakistan’s historic victory against India in the “Battle of Truth.”
According to military sources, the event will be attended by the country’s top military leadership and senior officials, while Chief of Defence Forces Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir will participate as the chief guest and deliver a keynote address.
The ceremony is being organized to honor the armed forces’ role during the May 2025 conflict, which Pakistani military officials regard as a defining moment in the country’s defense history. The anniversary event is expected to pay tribute to the sacrifices of soldiers and civilians while highlighting the unity shown by the nation during the confrontation.
Officials confirmed that Chief of Air Staff Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Babar Sidhu and Chief of Naval Staff Admiral Naveed Ashraf will also attend the ceremony alongside senior commanders from all three branches of the military.
As part of the commemorative proceedings, floral wreaths will be laid at the Martyrs’ Memorial in honor of soldiers who lost their lives defending the country. Smartly turned-out contingents from the Pakistan Army, Pakistan Navy, and Pakistan Air Force will present a ceremonial salute during the event.
The military leadership has extended congratulations to both the nation and the armed forces on the completion of one year since the success of the “Battle of Truth.” In separate messages, Field Marshal Asim Munir, Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Babar, and Admiral Naveed Ashraf praised the professionalism, dedication, and sacrifices of Pakistan’s security forces.
According to a statement issued by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the armed forces remain fully prepared to confront all internal and external challenges with the support of the Pakistani people.
“The success achieved during the Battle of Truth is a reflection of the preparedness, commitment, and professional excellence of Pakistan’s armed forces,” the military’s media wing said.
The ISPR added that the events of May 2025 further strengthened public confidence in the military and demonstrated the importance of national unity during times of crisis.
The “Battle of Truth” refers to the military confrontation between Pakistan and India in May 2025, during which tensions between the two nuclear-armed neighbors escalated sharply. Pakistani officials have repeatedly stated that the country’s armed forces responded effectively to enemy aggression and defended national sovereignty with determination.
Military analysts believe the anniversary ceremony is intended not only to commemorate the events of the conflict but also to reinforce the message of military preparedness and national solidarity. The ceremony comes at a time when regional security concerns, including cross-border tensions and terrorism threats, continue to remain significant issues for Pakistan.
Security arrangements around GHQ and surrounding areas have reportedly been tightened ahead of the ceremony. Sources said the event would include military honors, commemorative tributes, and addresses focusing on the importance of national defense and regional stability.
The armed forces leadership has emphasized that Pakistan remains committed to safeguarding its territorial integrity and maintaining peace in the region while remaining fully prepared to respond to any aggression.
Public interest in the ceremony remains high, particularly among families of martyrs, veterans, and citizens who closely followed the developments during the May 2025 conflict. Many Pakistanis view the anniversary as a moment to recognize the sacrifices made by members of the armed forces and civilians during the period of heightened tensions.
Observers say the participation of all three service chiefs highlights the importance the military places on joint operational readiness and inter-services coordination in modern warfare. The ceremony is also expected to reflect Pakistan’s continued emphasis on defense modernization and preparedness in the face of evolving regional threats.
The armed forces reiterated that national unity and public support remain among the country’s greatest strengths, adding that the military and the people of Pakistan stand together in defending the nation against all forms of internal and external challenges.
