Acting on the directives of DIG Hyderabad Range Tariq Razzaq Khan Dharejo and SSP Hyderabad Shahzaib Chachar, Market Police have successfully foiled an attempt to supply a large quantity of raw material used in the preparation of Mainpuri and Gutka.

The operation was conducted under the supervision of SDPO Market Muhammad Raees Khanzada.

According to police, SHO Market Inspector Naik Muhammad Khoso, along with his team, carried out a raid near Tilk Chaari on the basis of confidential information. During the operation, two suspects, identified as Abdul Razzaq Brohi and Moti Bheel, were arrested, while their alleged accomplice, Haris Marwari, managed to escape from the scene.

During the operation, police recovered a substantial quantity of material from Mazda truck No. JW-2505.

The seized items included two cartons of raw material used for Mainpuri, one sack containing additional Mainpuri raw material, 31 cartons of different varieties of supari (areca nut), two cartons of tobacco, two packets of Gutka, and 22 bundles of various types of sweet supari.

Police said that the recovered material was allegedly being transported for the preparation and distribution of Mainpuri and Gutka.

Suspects Admit Involvement

During preliminary interrogation, the arrested suspects allegedly disclosed that they prepared Mainpuri from the raw material and supplied and sold the finished product at different locations.

Police said the investigation is continuing to determine the extent of the alleged supply network and identify other individuals who may be involved in the preparation, transportation and distribution of Mainpuri and Gutka.

A case has been registered against the arrested suspects and the absconding suspect under Crime No. 267/2026, under Section 8 of the Gutka and Mainpuri Act.

Police have launched further investigation and efforts are underway to arrest the suspect who fled from the scene.

The authorities have reiterated their commitment to taking action against the manufacture, transportation and distribution of Gutka and Mainpuri in Hyderabad and preventing the circulation of such products.
